Join us for our final show at Lyd & Mo’s. Mo is closing his doors after 10 years in Playhouse Village. I’m super sad about it. But we’re going to have a great night to celebrate it, with Danette Christine & Friends — who played our very first show nearly two years ago — and Jami Lula — who reunited his 90s band Lula for a show in our first year, joined me a couple times, and sang for the Christmas show — will be debuting new music during our final night at this place that has felt like a home for so many of us. I’ll do a set, of course, and I hope to have some other surprises for you, too. I’ve got no word on where I might take this series going forward, if it is to continue. So I want to thank you all so much for supporting us for the past 21 months. It has been a joy to commune with you all!
Zoe’s a friend who lives up in Northern California and has a great new album called, “Before the Machine.” I’m excited to play guitar for her for the second time this year at Hotel. We’re also going to be doing some recording at my studio while she’s in town!
Her music is in the Americana realm…with some soulful swamp. She started her career as an acclaimed journalist and memoirist, so her writing is beautifully textured. And I get to amplify that with some textured electric guitar. It’s really fun to play with her!
I’m playing my first ever set under my name at Hotel Cafe, believe it or not. I’m joining Feef Mooney’s record release event on Saturday, 10/26, at 10:30pm. It’s at a rock ‘n’ roll time on Saturday night in Hollywood. The Hotel Cafe is one of the premier singer-songwriter venues in Los Angeles. Feef is an energetic ball of positive light whom I met doing the Nilsson tribute shows over the past couple of years. And she’s got a crack band including Chris Price and Fernando Perdomo (guys who play with some of your favorite power pop artists and more) collaborating with her that night. And I’m stoked to be part of the party doing a full set at Feef’s request.
Strong Words, the favorite “Storytelling for Grown-Ups” show of Silver Lake and Atwater Village, recently toasted 13 years and 100 shows with an epic outdoor event at the Autry Museum.
This marks the popular salon’s fifth appearance at LA Made, and the Strong Words crew promises a delightful Sunday afternoon for Angelenos to bask in the air-conditioned splendor of the magnificent Mark Taper Auditorium while soaking up fun and refreshing stories, poetry, and music.
It’s a 90-minute celebration of Summer you won’t soon forget. “Voices of the City” for this performance include Roy Cruz, Jimmy Walsh Doyle, Marlene Nichols, Brett Paesel, Lynne Thompson, and special musical guest Jason Luckett.

This month we have Francisco Ruiz, whom I met when we were singing on the show Extended Family at the beginning of the year. Originally from Ecuador, he’s a brilliant singer who’s worked with some of my favorite artists from Ivan Lins and Bobby McFerrin to U2!
We also have Julian Velard joining us! I met Julian (who was previously based in NYC) on the recommendation of producer Stephen Power who’d been raving about him for years. He’s described as a classic entertainer – a rare combination of Nilsson-meets-Newman, piano-driven singer-songwriter sensibility and razor-sharp comedic timing.

Again this year I’ll be joined past artists who’ll be covering some of my songs. Joining us will be Cathy Segal-Garcia, Alison Lewis, and Jeanne Newhall.
The thought behind this birthday show is to seed the idea that us artists should all cover each other’s songs, kind of like back in the days of the Troubadour, or the Greenwich Village folk scene, or jazz artists in the 50s and 60s. I think it’s a cool way for us to support each other and grow a scene. I kind of cast it with songs of mine that I thought someone’s voice would add something really special to it. We did this last year and I loved the result!
I’ll be collaborating with Alison, Jeanne and Cathy and will cover a song of Cathy’s. We’ll hopefully have some more surprises, too! It should be a celebration! Can’t wait to have you join us!
I’m excited to be back at All Saints Church for this unique concert/service! In 2023 I did a Freedom Songs version. This year I’m doing something a little more intimate to celebrate the father figures in my life, the nurturers and the catalysts!
Joining me are two amazing musicians: Edwin Livingston on bass, and Ana Barreiro on drums.
Jazz Vespers are held in the church on Sunday evenings at 5:00 pm. We gather in the intimacy of the Chancel for an extraordinary experience of jazz in-the-round. Childcare provided. Join us for an extraordinary celebration of joy, energy and liberation.
