I don’t think Dan and I have shared a mic since the nineties, and it was definitely nothing like this. I’m excited to meet Julie after all these years. I don’t know Lisa yet, but Susan is a great writer, so this should be a very good night. Hope to see you.

Beautiful Struggle – KPFK

Last night I had the privilege to play a song on “Beautiful Struggle” on KPFK here in Los Angeles.  The theme of the evening was education and the cutbacks we’re facing in California.  For more info on the March 4th Strike, go to: http://defendcapubliceducation.wordpress.com/

Co-host, Michael Datcher, had prompted me that the show would be on education issues.  And just a few days earlier I’d performed with Anne Feeney at an activist retirement community on the campus of UCBerkeley.  One of the women after the show told me how my song, “Jackson, MS,” captured issues that aren’t being taught in schools much these days.  So I pulled that one out for the show.

Santa Cruz – Quaker Meeting House – 2/24

Thanks to all that came out to The Black Body reading at Asana Teas on Sunday.

For this show I’ll be opening for my friend and traveling partner from last summer, Anne Feeney.  Last year I joined her on the entire “Sing Out for Single Payer Road Show” – 35 shows in 25 days to promote a single payer plan for true healthcare reform.  Last year’s Santa Cruz show was one of my favorites of the tour.
