- Notes: The Emmett Till Project A new series of performance works (curated by KEVIN SPICER) commemorating the 55th anniversary of the lynching of fourteen year-old Emmett Till on August 28, 1955, a murder that mobilized the civil rights movement. Renowned performance artists CHRISTOPHER BENSON, MARK BROYARD, DAVID CRITTENDON, JASON LUCKETT, J.M. MORRIS, PAUL OUTLAW, S. PEARL SHARP, KEVIN SPICER, PAT TAYLOR, and others present original performance/music/dance pieces exploring the theme of Emmett. Accompanying the performance will be an installation of visual art on the Emmett Till/Civil RIghts theme, including sculpture, digital prints and painting from TONI SCOTT, mixed-media work from MARK BROYARD, digital prints from GEORGE EVANS and ALISA ADONA, and paintings from LORI-ANTOINETTE, CANDACE HUNTER, ROBERT LOWDEN, THE BUTLER and others.
